John Dinewood Needs A Break follows John Dinewood, a depressed middle-aged man, who decides it is time to end his life on his 36th birthday. In the process, he accidentally wishes that he could be happier, which is overheard by the passing wishgranter, Summer Black. As a result, Summer ties their souls together and makes it her duty to grant John's wish.

The only problem? Summer isn't exactly the greatest wishgranter.
